Government Shutdown October 1, 2025
Government Shutdown Update – October 1, 2025
As of today, Congress has not passed a funding bill, resulting in a government shutdown. While the duration remains uncertain, we will keep you informed as new information becomes available.
What you need to know:
- We’re still open and operating as normal. Our team continues to underwrite deals, complete prequalifications, and prepare new applications for submission to the SBA as soon as it reopens.
- Approved projects that are already in Closing will be submitted as planned. The October debenture sale and fundings will proceed as normal.
- Servicing functions will continue for all previously closed and funded loans.
- New applications will be fully prepared during the shutdown and submitted as soon as the SBA resumes operations.
What you can do:
- Consider extending closing dates to allow additional time for approvals once SBA resumes operations.
- Maintain open communication with us and other project partners.
- Stay informed and watch for our updates as the situation evolves.
For added context, past government shutdowns affecting the SBA in recent history have varied in duration:
- Oct 1 – 16, 2013: 16 days
- Jan 20 – 22, 2018: 3 days
- Dec 22, 2018 – Jan 25, 2019: 35 days (longest in U.S. history)
- Oct 1, 2025 – ? (ongoing)
